The answer depends on the tracker model. Some hardwired trackers are rated IP65 or IP66, which protects against dust and water jets, not against immersion. Check the rating of the model before you order, and fit the tracker in a dry compartment away from direct spray.
A hardwired tracker runs off the boat's battery, so check the model's input range against the boat's system: a range such as 9 to 90 volts covers 12 V and 24 V systems. For a boat left idle for weeks, ask for the installation to be checked so the tracker does not drain the battery.
