BYOD GPS Tracking

BYOD GPS tracking means you keep your existing tracker hardware and connect it to a platform that accepts third-party devices, with published software pricing per vehicle.

What is BYOD GPS Tracking?

Operators often leave Traccar, a reseller lock-in, or another hosted platform with hardware still in the vehicle. BYOD unlocks or re-points that device, then connects it on a platform that supports the model. Traxelio does not host Traccar; the unlock-then-connect path is the owner connect flow. GPS transfer between Traxelio accounts is a different job.

How it works

  1. Confirm you own the tracker and have the IMEI.
  2. Remove or disable it on the old platform.
  3. Re-point server or SMS settings using brand setup docs.
  4. Run the Traxelio owner connect flow (owns intent).
  5. Verify one live position before fleet rollout.

Key facts

  • Keep working hardware instead of buying a proprietary gateway
  • Published software pricing per active vehicle
  • Clear path off Traccar or reseller lock-in without hosting Traccar yourself
  • Separate from account transfer — /gps-transfert (BYOD door) vs /gps-transfert/account

Frequently Asked Questions
