Point Tzone at Traxelio

  1. 1

    Capture a Tzone fingerprint

Confirm a binary record with a length word then 0x2424 and eight IMEI bytes. This is not Totem ASCII $$ $GPRMC and not Ulbotech 0xF8.

  2. 2

    Point Tzone at 5029

Configure only Tzone to TCP 5029. Tzone on 5029 is not Totem on 5007 or Ulbotech on 5072.

  3. 3

Do not treat @ACK as a fix

When ACK is enabled, Traxelio answers @ACK,n# plus an @UTC time: stamp. That is not a map point.

  4. 4

    Prove one Tzone fix

Send one GPS block with lat/lon on 5029 and verify a map point. Hardware 0x406 reuses the last point.

Tzone SMS (*011 APN / *015 server)

Guided setup available

Enable GPRS

*{password},016,1#

APN commands depend on the carrier SIM in your tracker, so they are not shown here.

Still offline after GPS lock

Tzone still not landing

Tzone aimed at the wrong port

Tzone on 5029 is not Totem ASCII $$ on 5007 or Ulbotech 0xF8 on 5072.

Session up, empty map

A GPS block with lat/lon plots. Hardware 0x406 and a short GPS block reuse the last point.

Saw @ACK, assumed a fix

@ plus the UTC stamp only proves the record parsed. Check the map for a GPS block.

FAQ

Tzone leftover questions

Does Tzone send Totem $$ IMEI $GPRMC lines?

No. Tzone is binary 0x2424 after a length word. Totem ASCII $$ $GPRMC is a different row.

What marks a Tzone record?

A length word, then 0x2424, a hardware word, then eight IMEI bytes with the first nibble dropped.

How may Tzone answer?

When ACK is enabled, @ACK,n# plus an @UTC time: stamp. That reply is not a map point.

Which Tzone records plot?

A GPS block with lat/lon. Hardware 0x406 and a short GPS block reuse the last point.

Are TZ-AVL units always this dialect?

No. Some TZ-AVL names also sit on Totem ASCII $$. This row is binary 0x2424 only.
