Does AX11 need an SMS password?

AT$PASS exists on the ATrack command set. Traxelio does not publish a default PIN on this page. Configurator USB is the first-config path.

How is AX11 installed?

Plug SAE J1962 Type B into the vehicle OBD socket. Optional Deutsch 6/9-pin adapters for trucks. It is not a three-wire harness.
